The National Chamber Choir of Ireland presents "Elegies" featuring the haunting motet composed by Herbert Howells to commemorate the death of President Kennedy, "Take him, Earth, for cherishing." Our performance is dedicated to the memory of another great statesman - the Czech playwright, dissident, and President, Vaclav Havel who died in December. Music by Britten and Finzi demonstrates that not all elegies have to be funereal in character, while Irish laments by Enda Bates and Frank Corcoran round out the program.
